Analysis and handling of common faults in solar farms

Decrease in solar panel power generation
Causes
· Solar panel damage: Aging and damage of solar panels directly affect the reduction of power generation.
· Extreme environment: saline, high humidity, and highly corrosive environments accelerate the aging of solar panels.
· Hot spot effect: Localized shading by solar panels causes hot spots, resulting in short circuits in the solar panels.
Solutions
· Choose high-quality solar panels to ensure the initial quality of the solar panels.
· Clean and maintain solar panels regularly and replace damaged solar panels on time.

· Plan the layout of solar farms reasonably to avoid solar panels being shaded.
Decreased inverter conversion efficiency
Causes
· Long-term operation of the inverter causes internal components to age or become damaged, resulting in decreased efficiency or failure to convert.
· Poor heat dissipation of the inverter. Experimental data show that the higher the temperature, the lower the conversion performance.
· MPPT function failure, unable to capture the maximum power of the solar panel in a timely manner.
Solutions
· Check the inverter regularly and replace aging or damaged components in time.

· Clean the attachments on the radiator in time to ensure the normal operation of the inverter.
· Test and debug the MPPT function of the inverter to ensure that it can accurately track the maximum power point of the solar panel.
Cable Failure
Causes
· Exposure to the external environment causes the cables to age.
· External forces damage the cable during the construction process, such as being scratched or squeezed by sharp objects.
· Cable overload operation causes overheating, leading to a short circuit.
Solutions
· Regularly inspect and maintain cables, and replace aged and damaged cables promptly.
· Strengthen the cable casing protection to prevent the cable from mechanical damage.

· Reasonably plan cable capacity to avoid overloading, install overload protection devices, and promptly disconnect the power supply when cable current exceeds the rated value.
Corrosion of PV mounts
Causes
· Damage to the anti-corrosion coating of the bracket during transportation and installation.
· Installation of PV equipment in polluted areas, causing corrosion of the photovoltaic bracket.
Solutions
· Repair the anti-corrosion coating in time.
· When the bracket is severely corroded, perforated, or broken, the damaged parts should be replaced in time.

· Regularly maintain and service the solar panels to keep the bracket surface clean.
